Earnings & Employment Supports Working Group

This group drafted, consulted on and finalized two sets of recommendations to present to the Ministry and to officials in charge of both Income Support and Employment Supports. The first dealt with the amount of money people are allowed to keep when they work, as well as the associated difficulties that arise when one tries to work, such as problems with the income reporting system, the threat of being suspended or cancelled, overpayments, and the fear of losing drug benefits or eligibility for disability when employment is attempted. The second set of recommendations dealt with the principles that should guide pending changes to Employment Supports. The group learned the responses to these recommendations in the February, 2006 announcement of changes to ODSP employment.
