The ODSP and OW rules have been changed to make grants from councils like the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council, Toronto Arts Council, other city arts councils or arts foundations, exempt from being treated as income and assets. That means that there should be no effect on a disabled artist's eligibility for, or amount of income support. However, if any part of the grant is intended for living expenses,(which is rare) that amount would be considered income for ODSP. The Arts Councils will provide letters stating how much a person has been granted, and how much, if any, is for living expenses. Congratulations to all the artists and arts organizations who joined the ODSP Action Coalition in pushing for this change!
